It was only 12 months ago that PokerStars revealed the true identity of the online phenom Isildur1.
The great big reveal was made at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA), in the Bahamas, and the identity belonged to the Swede Viktor Blom.
One year later, and at that very same tournament, Blom has won the highly rated and sought after $100k Super High Roller. Incredibly, this event becomes Blom’s second ever live cash and his first ever victory.
Blom had to see off some of the world’s greatest players to take down the title, proving that the Swede does have what it takes to win a live tournament. All in all, 30 players ponied up the $100k to play in this event and the prize money generated a first prize of $1,254,400.
Blom beat the American Dan Shak heads up, but the real tussle involved the three-way action between Blom, Shak and the current PCA Main Event champion Galen Hall. Shak took $846,700 for his runner-up spot and Galen Hall took home $470,400 for finishing in third.
The total prize pool was $3,136,000 and joining Blom, Shak and Hall in the money were the likes of former WSOP Main Event champion Jonathan Duhamel (4th) and Daniel Negreanu (5th).
The PCA is one of the world's largest poker festivals held outside of the annual jaunt to Las Vegas for the WSOP. In total there will be 41 events held at the Atlantis Resort and Viktor Blom has become a champion of one of the very best of those events.
